A totally new kind of eyeliner and highlighter that creates definition around the eye for a soft, smoky eye effect.
A creamy formula that won’t fade, crease or smear. Hypoallergenic and dermatologist-tested, Mystikol is safe for even the most sensitive eyes.
Goes on thick and "clumpy" Certainly not as easy as directions make it look. Yucky. Will return the one I have and also the 2 I just ordered. Pretty colors, but thick.
For me, this truly is the best eye product out there. I LOVE the smoky eye effect, and because I can't draw a straight line, it becomes the best! The first time I applied one of the eyeliners, I fell in love with it! It's so easy to apply, but even more so, the colors just knock my socks off! I do believe I need ALL of them and will probably purchase the rest today. I really was never a make up kind of gal, but since I have been introduced to the Jane Iredale line, I can't seem to get enough of it!
It's hard to tell how much you get for $20 but it seems like not a lot. I'll have to see how long it lasts. As one of the reviews says it does go on a little clumpy on the bottom but blending takes care of that. No problems on the top lid. I have the dark topaz and the amethyst... I forgot how great the deep purple colors make my eyes look! Now I have to have the ripe plum mascara.
I tried the Mystikol eyeliner for the first time last night. I did think it went on a little thick but it was so easy to smudge that I was able to achieve the look I wanted. I especially like the highlighter end for the inside of the eye. Nice product!
The applicator tip is very fat and impossible to use as an eye liner unless you want a very thick line. I have tried applying with a smaller eyeliner brush but still very messy.
Completely agree that this product is a MESS, the dark side of my product was all over the outside of the tip and springy part and the cap was full, it ended up all over my hands. Don't recommend this, needs some tweaking to be a product worthy of the Jane Iredale name. Very disappointed.
I don't usually write reviews but I had to respond to the ones that say this product goes on thick and clumpy. Couldn't disagree more. I recently ordered two (the brown and the aquamarine) and each one goes on smoothly and in a fine line. I like this product so much, I plan on ordering it in additional colors.
I have green eyes and I'm enjoying wearing the Citrine as an "everyday" color. It adds some definition without overwhelming my eyes. There's a bit of a learning curve in the application, but a good angled eyeliner brush helps smooth things out.
I truly love Jane Iredale products. However I hated the Mystikol Onyx. It was extremely hard to apply and smudged. I would not recommend this product.

This is my first JI review even though every makeup item I own is JI. Ireceived this tonite and felt the need to defend it. I bought one of these when they first came out but it was the darker brown and it was too dark for me so I had to send it back but that was my only complaint so I jumped at buying the much lighter counterpart. This color is GREAT for my fair skin and makes my green eyes pop! I think it goes on soft and smooth. I am also very exited to be able to wear eyeliner again! The only reason I didn't give five stars is that I wish the highlighter was a bit darker. A cool idea I have seen working for Lancome years ago was the stylo and you could pick the colors on each end and buy only replacement cartridges for the side that is empty...I could see that making these a lot of fun!

I have purchased the Topaz, Amethyst and Malachite and I love them all. I know some reviewers state difficulty in applying but I find that if you apply with a liner brush these eyeliners have all day staying power! The colors are rich and beautiful and I love how I can create different looks--soft or bold.
I really like this eyeliner. It goes on smooth and silky. I am allergic to other purple eyeliners and this is the first one that I haven't been allergic to. However, I really don't use the highlighter end and would love to see this same eyeliner with a smudger on the other end. I have to use a smudger from another pencil I have to perform this task.
I had to return it. I couldn't control the pencil. Too dark; too unmanageable. It sounded great.
I love the colors (I have Dark Topaz and Lapis Lazuli) and they are easy to apply when they cooperate but like other folks I have had clumping problems.
I ordered the Aquamarine and love the color and the ease of application. I did not experince any 'clumping' issues whatsoever. Glides on smooth and the color lasts all day!! Love this product and will be ordering a few more colors!
I'm one of those people who often feel very naked without eyeliner. I think I look alright without it, but after getting my first Mystikol, I feel like it truly makes my eyes stand out! I have Onyx, Citrine, Aquamarine, Amethyst, and Malachite. I just ordered the Topaz, and can't wait to try it! Anyway, I love these eyeliners because they go on very smooth. I've tried eyeliners from the drugstore and not liked them because it felt like I had to really press hard in order to get a decent depth of color, and that hurt! Mystikols go on smooth and stay on really well, even through a hot sweaty game of soccer! Plus I adore the highlighter; I put a little in the inner corners of my eyes to brighten them, and a little just under the arch of my brow to add a tiny bit of lift. So neat! My favorites are definitely the Aquamarine, Amethyst, and Onyx. Aquamarine is a beautiful color that looks great with my brown eyes and a similarly colored top. Amethyst adds the right amount of darkness but has that beautiful purple color in it, and Onyx is perfect for when I really want my eyes to pop! The only thing I don't like about it is that that one tends to push product all the way up to the end of the cap! When I close it, some oozes out and I do have to wipe it off every time I use it. :( Otherwise, no complains. The Malachite is a nice color too, though I'm not too crazy about the Citrine. I feel like I have to apply it numerous times before I'm satisfied with the color. Anyway, great product Jane! I won't ever go back to drugstore eyeliner!
died and gone to heaven !...love it stays put and if it doesnt it becomes smoky and great i am testing to see how long it last...so far over a month now ...each day i just love this product!!
Goes on thick and clumpy. Would not purchase again.
I have onyx, aquamarine and lapis lazuli mystikols. The onyx is a mess- clumps and product gets outside of tube. Onyx is hard to blend and creates too thick of a dark line. Lapis lazuli is better, the line smoother and thinner than onyx, but also messy to use. Aquamarine is the best. Thinnest line and doesn't seem to get all over outside of tube. I don't like the highlighter end. I use powder eyeshadow instead. Almost a great product-needs some improvements in container, applicator and better formulation of onyx shade.
I have purchased 3 colors and they all come out different. One barely has color that will come out and with both with both of the others, one end is overflowing! Love the color and texture! Just wish the consistency was there. I threw away the boxes so I cannot return to the spa where I purchased! Love everything else I have purchased!
I have read the reviews on Mystikol and would like to defend it. I have purchased numerous malachite and aquamarine and love them. I had lasik surgery on one eye and have difficulty putting on liners. However, Mystikol makes it so easy and goes on so smooth that it looks like I took a long time in applying the liner but it was just one quick stroke. Recently, I purchased it and gave as gifts to friends and family who also love it. I have used JI for several years and think the mystikol is one of the best JI products aside from the mineral foundation.
I am a blonde with blonde eyelashes and eyebrows. I have used eyeliners for "bald-looking" eyes since I was a teen-ager. This is the first eyeliner that I truly love. It took a week or two of experimenting, but then I mastered the application. I put it on very lightly & immediately smudge with a smudger/brush duo. I have three shades, but generally use the amber which I didn't think I would like, but I have discovered that I can also use these color, applied very lightly and after having applied it as eyeliner, on my blonde eyebrows. So, if I need to re-apply after a work-out or swim, I can carry only one pencil to do two jobs! Thank you, Jane Iredale for this absolutely wonderful product!!! (I might add that I am very sensitive to many products, but have no problems with mystikol.
It is a wonderful eye liner. Very smooth and stay all day. Thank you.
I tried the black and white one at first and thought it was much too gloppy and smudgy. Then I tried a lighter color and it was all the difference in the world. It goes on smoothly, stays on forever and is easy. I would say that if you haven't used liquid eyeliner in a long time start with a lighter color and go from there.
i LOVE the eyeliner. it's the only one i use because it doesn't feel heavy and doesn't itch. BUT - not sure how much you get for the price. i noticed after a few weeks the applicator, which retracts, wasn't fully grabbing the product which seems stuffed high up into the cap. at the beginning i got a decent amount of product and a great solid eye line. now, i press in over and over and the applicator is going as far as it can and the product is stuffed too far in... bummer...
I bought this in 3 different colors - which means I had a large investment and on all three of them the caps cracked and kept falling off. Plus it they didnt last long - they seemed to dry out really fast. I loved the colors but, the dried up pretty quick. I won't buy this product again.
I have the onyx, amethyst, lapis lazuli, aquamarine and citrine. All of the colours applied beautifully, smooth and precise, except onyx. Onyx was a thick and clumpy and harder to apply, however, after wiping it on the inside of the cap it came out better. I wonder why onyx is a different consistency to the other colours? All colours lasted all day with a primer, but didn't last very long without one. You also have to be careful when applying, I noticed small flakes during the day if you didn't apply it smoothly. All of the highlighters were quite similar so I suggest they put a different eyeliner colour on the ends, perhaps pink or a terracotta.
The applicator tip is too wide or I just have a difficult time applying. I usually end up looking like a raccoon. I have found if I use an eyeliner brush to apply I can control the line thickness. The biggest plus of this eyeliner is that it literally stays on until you intentionally take it off.
I wanted to love this. The colors are fantastic, vibrant and smooth. Application is easy. I have no complaints whatsoever about the highlighting end. But this SMEARS. Like, wow. I use an eye base underneath and halfway through the day the line is mirrored on my upper eyelid. Not a good look. I'll use this till I run out but I'm not repurchasing. A waterproof version or improved formula would be awesome!
Love this eyeliner - Is a little learning curve but WOW no tugging or pulling on sensitive skin. Able to do both fine line or "smudge" depending on my mood. Also, removes easily with water so again no harsh chemical to remove.
I love this eyeliner! It goes on great and last long without smudging.
The best eyeliner ever. The intensity of a liquid with the softness of a pencil and the blendability of a powder. Takes a little practice to apply but if you use it over foundation it never smudges or smears.
This is pretty clever stuff! Yes, the color is in the cap and it may look like a small amount...yes there is a learning curve...but this product is amazing. Watch the video of the application process and you will see how easy it is to use. Make sure you have a smudging brush and/or tapered eyeliner brush and you can not go wrong. Just remember you have to be light handed not heavy handed. I am a green eyed brunette with cool undertones to my skin so the colors I chose work best with my eye color. Tons of compliments with all colors!
This is what I have been looking for! I do not want a defined 'line' but the ability to have a smokey line. I can control whether it is a thinner or thicker line with the applicator. I am very pleased. I am finding no clumping or having to wipe excess off; and I don't wear eye colors super darkly. Thanks for the product!
This is an innovative and interesting product, it's fun to use and it's a great value bc it lasts FOREVER. The pigmentation of the liner is incredibly vibrant. I have Lapis Lazuli, which is a deep sapphire color. The highlighter is great for inner eye corner. My only complaint is that this SMUDGES! I apply it with a flat liner brush, I've tried it with and without an eye primer, I've set it with setting powder (this helped the most), but nothing fully keeps it from ending up in a mirrored ring on my eyelid and a little below my eyes. I wish it didn't make me look so sick and tired by the end of the day. I will probably still buy the Emerald color and the citrine and survive the smudging, but any advice would be welcome!
Mystikol is a great find and I am so glad I tried this product. I bought the dark topaz and it is a rich brown and has great pigment. It glides on like silk and does did not irritate my eyes. Was able to draw a thin line as well as a more intense line for a smokier effect. The highlighter end is a lovely color but too much product comes out of the cap and clumps on the applicator to the point it reaches the threading on the cap, it isn't a huge issue with respect to using product, just a small inconvenience to clean. Worth a try!!!
I have found my mystikol (onyx) to be too hard to use - I like a 1960's 'Brigitte Bardot look', - quite a thick line but the mystikol tip went on too thick to control. Unfortunately It also bled everywhere and I had black rings under my eyes. It was expensive and I can't use it, however I have read some other customers comments regarding their mystikol having a fine tip applicator - Maybe theirs was a different batch?? Have you changed the tip of the applicator?
I bought the aquamarine/icy pink mystikol eyeliner, and I have found that it is better for an eyeshadow. I use the pale pink for highlighter/eyeshadow, but I hardly ever use the aquamarine because the line comes out to thick and the color is too pale for eyeliner. It's better for a smudged/night out look, but not for everyday. Also, the case broke and getting the eyeliner out is really tricky.
Get this. Just do it. You'll understand :)
This eyeliner is AMAZING. I have purchased all 7 colors and use it every day. I get TONS of compliments and many of my girlfriends have gone out to buy it. I do use a base on my eyelid, and the liner stays all day without dropping any powder onto my face. The colors are insanely pretty but my favorite is the Aquamarine. I hear it is a summer color only, but PLEASE do not discontinue it. If you plan to, please email me first so I can hoard it! If you like a really thin line, this product may not be for you... but you can control the width of the product. AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING. An investment well worth it. Also, although it doesn't look like you get much product.. this does last a long time!
One more thing, my eyes used to get very red throughout the day. Ever since I switched to this liner and the JI Longest Lash, I no longer get red eyes. A fantastic addition to the pretty makeup. THANK YOU! Also, please do not discontinue citrine. Contact me if that is planned so I can hoard that as well!
Wonderfully easy to apply, looks FANTASTIC and stays all day. Must be SMUDGED for the darker color, not meant to be a hard thin line. Highlighter looks GREAT though it doesn't seem to last very long. Looks totally amazing and stays put till you take it off. Top notch!!
I love the citrine shade. It is perfect for my brown eyes and gives just the right amount of shimmer.
I bought the dark topaz and love this product. In the summertime I do have to be a bit careful here in the hot texas weather or I might end up looking like a racoon but I actually use this product to fill in and blend a liquid liner I apply. During the winter this product works fine for me alone. I love that it has the lighter color on the under end that I use under my brow and at the points of my eyes for some shimmer. Lovely product especially when you learn to apply it correctly. A little goes a long way.
Every Jane Iredale product I have purchased, I have quickly fallen in love with, so since we go on a lot of long distance motorcycle trips, I decided to give Mystikol a try, since it wouldn't take up much room and after reading the product description, I thought it sounded like another wonder JI goodie. Very disappointed. I have Onyx - and it goes on extremely clumpy, and after an hour or so, it seems to be all over. I have even had friends ask why I have such dark circles under my eyes! This is the only JI product that I really wish I hadn't spent the money at my local spa for.
The eyeliner color cannot be applied with precision due to the application tip and the creamy shadow side has an odd look once it dries. This is definitely not a product that I can use since I like to have a little more control during the application process.
I love all of my Jane Iredale products, so didn't hesitate to buy both Onyx and Citrine from my local spa. What a disappointment! Onyx goes on extremely uneven and clumpy, and in no time, it drifts or bleeds and I look like I have 2 black eyes, even though I line only on top! Mentioned this at the spa, and wasn't offered an exchange or anything! Oh well, I do love all the other products I have.
This is the best product. You get a perfect smoky eye with a light smudge effect. This is something I have never done well with other products but Mystikol creates the perfect look. I use a bit of the highlighter also close to my upper lash, again perfect. Smooth, no clumps, no pulling on the delicate eye area, just the right amount of color.
It goes on too thick and gets all over my hands. Very mess. I really like the concept and the colors. I have 4 of them. I would love to return them and try something else. The company needs to work on this product.
Being a pale blonde, i still went with the perfect-black of Onyx. I love to do up the drama for special occasions and nothing compares to this product! I have had trouble with the creaminess, as it comes out very heavy, and again, I'm blonde. I find that using a blender or even a qtip controls the amount as i smudge it. When i forget to set it with powder/spray i have ended up with it underneath my eyes. Something tells me I just need to learn a couple more tricks. I've never found a product soft enough to not injure my eyes trying to get it dark enough, that gives amazing color without looking fake. The natural pigments and shimmer allow even me to pull off the high drama I love.
I bought this product in September the color is Topaz. I have no issues with the way the product applies however, both ends threading broke apart and the whoe pen is in pieces. I believe that the tension on the threads is to tight??
I absolutely love the concept of the packaging and the product....however it broke. I was introduced to this product via the Mesmerizing Grab&Go Kit and love it. Its extremely easy to apply makeup. I don't wear makeup all the time, went to use and the end was broke so I was let down!
I have a number of these liners and love them all with the exception of Onyx. I too find it very messy. The other colors go on very smoothly and last but after just an hour I find Onyx is all over and I don't rub my eyes. Citrine, Quartz and Amethyst are beautiful.
It took a little experimenting to get used to applying (as I am used to a regular pencil-style eyeliner), but now I love them! They go on smooth and it's easy to achieve a soft, smoky look. Best of all, they don't irritate my eyes even when wearing contact lenses (something I can't say for any other makeup brand I've tried!). I've even used the lighter highlighting end as eyeshadow. I currently have the Dark Topaz and Smoky Quartz shades, and both are flattering with my fair skin, dark hair and blue eyes. I look forward to trying more shades!
I bought this in the kit, I had been wanting to try it and loved the colors in it on my skin tone however the top broke for the peach highlighter the second day I had it, so upsetting. I still love the peach highlighter though I am curious as to what would be the closest product with the same color range and effect?
Love the color but the pencil cap on the highlighter broke again! Called the personal shopper and they replaced it the first time. The replacement worked for a week at most then the end broke again. Very disappointed with the applicator. Is anyone else having this problem?
