It adds a subtle highlight to the lid, and can be worn alone or with shadows on top.
Ever wonder how you can keep eye shadows from creasing on oily lids, or how you can get more life and longer wear out of your favorite color? Our lid primer also doubles as a shadow that can be applied with a finger to make the eye look moist and shimmery.
I have trouble with shadows creasing and/or wearing off quickly. I have used this product for a year with great success preventing this from happening. Love the shimmer too.
I've been using "Canvas" lid primer for some time and it is wonderful. Gives the whole eyelid a nice glow, without needing eye shadow! But also works well when I want to add shadow.
i wanted to love this product, but... unfortunately, it seems like it never really "sets up" on the lid. i have tried it several times and each time it felt a bit greasy and creased within the first few hours after application. i was so disappointed! the color, however, is beautiful! just wish it didn't crease...
I have used up the Canvas color and am now reordering. I have loved the moisture this primer adds to my lids as they have become dryer with age. I usually use it alone but it is very nice under other eyeshadows as well. This time I am ordering the Petal color.
I am as much of a JI lover as they come, but this product did not work at all for me. I've tried thick application, with a brush, with my fingers, a thin application, blending, applying shadow right away, letting it dry, you name it. Within a few hours, the shadow creases and my eyeliner crumbles. Sadly, I am past my return time, so I'm stuck with it. Any application tips out there?
On my monitor, the shade I use looks a lot darker than it is in person, so don't be put off by that if you have the same issue. It's a very nice soft shade of pinky beige, featherweight and glides on beautifully without any of the harsh glitter that looks so nasty on older eyelids (I'm pushing 65). Sometimes I use it alone, sometimes fluff some blush over it, and of course it makes the ideal base for shadows.
The primer color - Canvas - is very natural looking (natural enough to be used alone) and hold eyeshadow in place all day. The creaminess makes application easy and subtle. The best I have tried and I think I have tried all brands.
Like some of the other commenters, I've tried different application methods (brushes, fingers, sponges, letting it 'set' longer, using less product, using even less product than that), but it's still not working for me. I have creases and feathering withing a few hours, as if I hadn't used any primer at all. I love everything else I've ever used from Jane Iredale, so I can live with this one disappointment.
Very disappointmed in this greasy stuff! Shadow rested in the crease before very long. Do not feel I used too much. Love the foundation so I was very disappointed..will stick with foundation!
For years I have been searching, without success, for a matte cream eye shadow. As an aging baby boomer, my eye lids seem to look more wrinkly when I wore eye shadow--even the matte ones. I currently use the Lemon color Lid Primer and it is perfect as a nice cream eye shadow itself, as a highlighter, and as a base for my eye shadows. Because of this creamy lid primer, I can wear any eye shadow without making my lids look old and dry. It really keeps my eye shadow looking fresh all day. I am interesting in trying the other two colors as well.
I have been using this product for years and loved it. I used it like a shadow and applied it with my finger. It was very smooth and could be applied in a thin coat for a neutral shimmer. The formula has changed (in 2012) and it is now tacky and difficult to remove. My eyeliner does not go on smoothly over it. This was my favorite JI product. Now I'm getting by with Urban Decay's eyeshadow primer which unfortunately does not have a bit of shimmer.
I wanted to like this product. I really did. But it simply does not work for me. I applied the tiniest amount of product and blended all over my lid, but it still creased. The greasy texture seems odd for a primer. I love that it is vegan and natural however I would not buy this again.
