You know that feeling that you look like you were oiled after you put on most sunscreen? This product banishes that without looking powdered or fake. I don't rely on powder products alone for sunscreen coverage - I'm very fair, burn very easily, and have a family history of skin cancer. However, I do wear sunscreen every day and hate that it makes me look like I oiled up before I left the house. A quick dusting of the Powder Me and I'm back to having normal texture and appearance with a little bonus boost of SPF from the powder. Better than a traditional setting powder because it clings a little better and doesn't look dusty on my skin, this product is a suncare staple in my house. The packaging, while nice (mirror on top for touch-ups, even) leaves me frustrated. I'm something of a clean-freak about brushes and applicators and there's no good way to clean these lids. So I don't use them - I unscrew the top and use the powder with a kabuki brush. I would love it if Jane Iredale could offer this powder in an open jar and let those who'd like the applicator purchase it separately (and then you could control how frequently you changed them) or those who would like a sifter cap could purchase one.
Firstly, that last review scared me! Toxic particles?? I'm 8 months pregnant and have been using the powdered sunblock the entire time. And I do sorta inhale the powder when I put it on, and I put it on my 2 year old son as well! I just assumed everything from Jane Iredale was really good for me? Having said that, I don't find the powdered sunblock strong enough for me anymore. Have been using it for a while, but since becoming pregnant and my skin becoming more sensitive, I've noticed it'll go red if I'm out for even an hour or so. I've also been told it's not been approved in Australia yet, as the regulations here are much stricter. The sun is also much stronger. I will now be using the BB cream for my sunblock. Apparently the SPF 25 isn't much different than an SPF of 30 or even 50 (again so I'm told!)!
I thought I had found the powder of my dreams! this sunblock is the perfect color and looks sooooo good on everyone. It stays perfect all day. I was beginning to stock up on it when I decided to check out its toxic rating on EWG . It was a level 7!!!! 7 out of 10 with a high cancer rating and organ toxicity. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!! I will be spreading he word Ms . Jane. Please reformulate!! woman dont need reproductive challenges from sunblock.
At first I loved this product. I have been using Jane Iredale makeup for years and bought the powder-me sunscreen and used it daily. However, two weeks into using the sunscreen the sponge no longer evenly distributed powder and now more than a month later I have to use a powder brush which is quite messy. I loved the idea but I definitely have not enjoyed the packaging.
I have all three shades, and the only reason I left off a star is because I really need a shade between "translucent" & " tanned." I'm 54 and fair-skinned so I really love something I can trust ( & looks good too). I missed one little round spot on my thigh, and now I have a sunburned circle there, so I know it works when applied thoroughly. The "golden" shade makes me look jaundiced, and I use the "tanned" for outdoor sun exposure. The "translucent" creates a pale, ghostly look, but I have discovered that it's perfect for dabbing on the backs of my red, chapped looking heels, which keeps my feet looking good in sandal weather.
I recently purchased the Powder-Me SPF Dry Sunscreen (it was highly recommeded). I live in the Caribbean and I'm outdoors (especially in the sea...snorkeling,surfing, body boarding) a lot. I was a bit skeptical of this product at first but so far so good. The sunscreen stays on even after I have been in the water for hours. I am a chocolate brown-skinned woman, however, my skin burns easily and I must wear sunscreen at all times. I would love to have other options aside from the translucent powder. Are there plans to offer darker tints in this product?
You have to tap really hard to get the powder through the poof at the top. So I tried it with a brush. Either way, it ended up dry and clumpy in spots. Didn't shimmer at all. Very dull. Made my skin look lifeless. *sigh*
The golden is the perfect shade for me, I use this over the BB cream. I have very good skin but the combination of these two products helps is amazing! Because I use it over the BB the pad gets gummy. I tried washing it and that was a big mistake because now it won't stay on the container! I bought the translucent and it was far too light, then the golden (perfect) and then thought for summer the tan would be good but it was far too orange for me. I have been trying to mix tan and the translucent so because the product is spendy ... but my results aren't too good. I'm ordering the golden today because I'm tired of trying to blend the colors :(
I am a Medical Aesthetician and in my work I have always been trained that you apply a liquid SPF in the morning with your skin care routine, and follow up during the day with a powdered SPF. I would put no other cosmetic on my skin but Jane Iredale. I absolutely am crazy about it and everyone I switch over is too!
LOVE THIS PRODUCT! I had tried a similar product by another company that had an attached poor quality brush applicator (even though it was an expensive brand) that felt scratchy. Powder-Me-SPF Dry Sunscreen is not only a more finely milled powder (which gives a more flawless finish) but also goes on effortlessly with the sponge-top applicator. My only request is that you put it in the same delivery system as the Brush-Me-Matte with the brush applicator. I think it would fit better in my purse.
This sunscreen is so easy to use that even my husband uses it. We both findwe get great sun protection from it.
I love this product! It is my a wonderful sunscreen. I am very serious about my sunscreens because I have such fair skin and I have had such bad experiences with sunscreens clogging my pores and causing breakouts. I have had to pay a lot of money in dermatologist bills to try to fix this. Thank goodness for your product. It protects my skin and doesn't cause me any breakouts. I use it over the Dream Tint light and my skin is perfect. I will never use another product. Thank you!
This product was recommended to me by a pharmacist for my sensitive skin. I specifically requested something that I could use for activitities at higher altitude. Today I tested the product on a sunny day on Mt Rainier at 8600 feet of elevation while skiing and suffered a serious sun burn. I reapplied this product on my face and neck several times throughout the day (at least 5 times) and both areas are completely burned. I applied it on my arms maybe twice throughout the day and suffered a very, very bad and painful burn. The results of using this product are as if I had used no sunscreen at all. My friends used a regular sunscreen today and got no sunburn or not even redness. This is a horrible, dangerous product that doesn't work as suscreen at all!
I cannot begin to tell you how obsessed I am with this product! Let me add the disclaimer that I do not use the applicator provided, but rather I unscrew the lid and use the Flocked Sponge. I like to apply this after moisturizing, but before I apply either the Amazing Base or Pure Pressed Foundation. Amazingly enough, the translucent Powder Me SPF provides excellent coverage, complexion-wise, while also giving me the sun protection I so dearly need. I apply Powder Me SPF liberally, spritz, apply my foundation, spritz, and I have a flawless complexion!
Let me be frank and tell everyone this: you should have this in your purse wherever you go! I am a dark-haired, dark-eyed female with very pale skin, and by using this product (several times a day); I was able to get away with lying in the sun for a week in Mexico with only a hint of color! I did get a sunburned patch on my leg, but Powder-Me-SPF (I use the Translucent shade) did as advertised and soothed the reddened area. I didn't even peel, and my family appreciated the calming effects too! Definitely buying more of these!
My little girl is a white blonde and her scalp burns right through her hair. She's good at wearing hats but when she gets sweaty the hat "falls off." I can poof this all over her hair and it settles down on her scalp! Reapply if we are out more than 90 minutes. I use it only on her head and face due to the cost. But this is fantastic! I recommend for men who are follically challenged.
How can I replace the applicator. Love the product, but can't continue to use because the applicator has deteriorated. thanks
I use this sunscreen over Dream Tint. People compliment me on my complexion. That's never happened before but I'm getting used to it!
I love this sunscreen for under makeup and the décolleté. It is not greasy or wet and you don't get it all over your hands. It is excellent for running as it's the only sunscreen that doesn't run and burn your eyes when you sweat. Its also great for the kids faces!!
This powder is exactly what I was looking for! It perfectly finishes my 'look' when worn over JI 'Dream Tint' tinted moisturizer by adding the tiniest touch of appealing sparkle that doesn't excentuate the fine lines of my 40-something skin. Is now a permanent addition to my daily routine.
