Shine is notable by its absence! Perfect for oily skins to control oil and for all other skins as a primer.
Oil is the principle cause of color change in makeup. Absence actually helps control over-active sebaceous glands. It has no effect on the actual moisture (water content) of the skin.
I live in Florida where it is very humid - this works good - smells great and takes the redness out of my skin. Easy to apply with the sponge which I really like too.
I have combination skin and have struggled for years trying to find a natural looking base coat that won't clump or run. For my wedding I wore Absence under my pressed powder and have used it ever since! With it makeup lasts for hours, looks natural, and your skin looks beautiful in photos!
I AM 65 YEARS OLD AND HAVE THE PROBLEM WITH OILY SKIN IN THE T-ZONE AREA. I RECENTLY TRIED THIS PRODUCT, AND FOUND LITTLE OR NO BENEFIT. INFACT, IT MADE ME BREAK OUT UNDER AND AROUND MY NOSE. I LOVE THE OTHER JANE IREDALE PRODUCTS I HAVE TRIED, BUT WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS ONE.
When I purchased this I was expecting a waxy-feeling brush-on salve. I was very hesitant because at 48 I am showing some small wrinkles and creases around the mouth area. I still have very oily skin though, so I've been needing something to control the oil. Once I applied it with the foundation brush I could not see any sign of it in my creases....this was absolutely a miracle to me. How could something that looks waxy...not show up? I don't know how, but it does!!!! Then I applied my Tinted Moisturizer, then my base. I can never see any evidence of layers of "build-up looking" makeup. None. It is the best makeup in the world and it has made me a believer!
I wore this to a wedding with Dream Tint moisturizer and my skin looked and photographed great through tears of joy and happily dancing with my relatives.
I have oily skin and have tried so many different product, nothing helped. The Absence is magic! It keeps a perfect balance and does not dry up my skin.I used it with the purepressed base and it looks great for the rest of the day.
This is a great primer for Amazing Base and for oil control. But I'm extremely smell sensitive and the mild fragrance was enough to make my eyes red and water and my sinuses go crazy. Otherwise, this product works effectively.
My auntie got me this iredale primer which i use as an eyeshadow base. i was a bit sketchy because i wasnt sure how it would go on like the other bases that i use. You know, i really love this product and i cant believe how well it is. It comes off clean, doesnt make my face oily and it can get very much so. it doesnt have a nasty scent, and a little goes a long way, i want to buy more just to save it for later on lmao. definitely worth the money.
AbsenceĀ® Oil Control Primer Absence 1 felt velvety as it went on. However, I never had the opportunity to feel it under my foundation because my eyes were stinging and watering so badly I wound up having to wash my face before I was finished applying it. I had to wash my face twice before the scent was completely gone and my eyes stopped stinging.
I love this product, it took practice to apply it just right. However, once I got it perfect I found out my husband & daughter are both celiac. I was sad to see that Absence contains gluten. Is there another comparable product without gluten?
I love this product. I have very oily skin, and when I use it under my mineral foundation, my skin feels so fresh and dry! I've used Jane Iredale products for about 2 years now and would not use anything else! Their customer service is the best I've ever seen!
I am 62, and have the t-zone problem. I love this product! It helps smooth over my large pores on my nose, and helps with a smoother look after applying the mineral foundation.
I like the idea of this product, but I found after using it for several weeks I developed blackheads. So, I threw it away.
I am not happy with Absence Oil Control Primer. It is heavy, and settles into my pores making them become very obvious, and it makes the Pressed Base very cakey on my already extremely oily skin. I have tried applying it both with the sponge, and with the foundation brush. I don't have any luck with either one. I would not recommend this product to anyone. It seems to make me even oilier than I already am. Not impressed!
I believe product is best for those people who have oily skin but are not prone of acne. My skin is very sensitive, and while the Primer did help control the oil levels of my skin, I began to break out with black heads, etc. I am guessing this may be because of the waxes used in the product. If my skin had not reacted to it in a negative way, I would have continued using it!
I am a HUGE JI fan. I will never use another foundation or powder or tint but JI...however I was truely disappointed with the Absence.. I used it for a month, then ended up tossing it..it just did not do what it promissed. My face was oily by noon and it was kind of hard to get it to blend it with the skin.
I've always struggled with sensitive skin and found it very difficult to find something for pageants with great coverage that also wouldn't break me out. Years after my pageant days, I'm now doing makeup for many girls and this stuff is perfect. My only complaint is the sponge that comes with it will crumble VERY easily. I apply this now with a brush and use a slight amount. It will also use the sponge applicator for better coverage if you have too much on your skin. Overall, a great product but there are some very minimal issues with application. :)
I love this product and have been using it for few yrs now. The last 1-2 times I have purchased it, i have noticed the applicator is of poor quality, it peels off while applying like a sponge and is stuck all over my face. What else can I apply it with?
I bought this product about 5 years ago, didn't understand how to use it, and put it away. I picked it back up about a month ago and LOVE IT! I have very sensitive, oily, and acne-prone skin (if I'm not careful). This provides a perfectly smooth base for pure pressed foundation. It helps my make-up stay longer, keeps the shine away longer, and does not give me blackheads or cause breakouts. I live in a very dry, arid climate. Will try Absence2 next for the additional SPF coverage. YAY!
I have a very oily nose. My eyelids get fairly oily throughout the day and pretty much removes me eyeshadow. I was told by the girl selling me some other products that this is amazing, covers every pore, blocks the oil and is great for an eyeshadow primer. I later bought this and tried it out. The first couple of times I used it it was great. My eyeshadow stayed on and my nose was less oily by the end of the day. After that I felt like it just stopped working. My eyeshadow doesn't stay on and my nose is just as oily. Sometimes I will apply an oil control lotion, and then absence and it seems to be a little better, but not by much. I have tried doing the criss cross application and used difference brushes and the sponge, but there is no difference.
I was hesitant about purchasing Absence, I have extremely sensitve skin, very dry in areas and an oil slick in the Tzone. I had tried other primers with Jane's foundation and the Pure Pressed base and the results was not even passable good. I emailed the customer service and on the representives recommendation purchased the Absence.I am very surprised and pleased, yes you do have to work with the product smoothing gentle with my fingers and not using a moisturizer seems best for my skin. The wonderful part is that areas of broken cappilaries appear less, my skin is behaving better and looks better with out makeup. I would be a stretch to use the Absence alone because it is opaque white but I ma very happy with the results and my makeup looks flawless ladies!
i have tried multiple ways to apply this primer and when i do, it does not keep my shine down. I find myself blotting my face an hour after applying it. I have watched the video on how to apply it and i have tried that too. I even tried putting on light to medium amounts of it on my face and i still find my skin to be oily after a short period of time. For the price this product is, i wish it worked.
Sadly, this is one Jane Iredale product that did not work for me. I was trying to address my oily T-Zone. Ironically, it made me even more oily--especially on my nose and chin. The "Powder-Me-Matte" on top of my foundation works better.
An absolute must have product for large pores and oily skin!! A LITTLE goes a LONG way so don't use too much and make sure you use a foundation brush to apply it, in downward strokes. Don't worry about blending it in completely, it wont show after your makeup application. Only use it where you get oily or have large pores, it really makes a difference on how your mineral makeup sets on your face. It helps cover large pores without breaking you out, perfect for my acne prone skin! Absolutely love this product now that I started using it correctly! I have to thank Jane's awesome customer service reps for that!!
